Dow falls for a third day as investors grow cautious in September; European stocks close lower as traders battle nerves over growth, ECB meeting 
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell for a third day on Wednesday as investors reassess the economic growth outlook following a smooth ride in the market so far this year. 
The Dow fell about 80 points. The S&P 500 dipped 0.2%. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell more than 0.6% after closing at a record on Tuesday. 
Shares of Coinbase fell more than 3% after the cryptocurrency exchange revealed it received a notice of possible enforcement action from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Coupa Software fell 2% despite its better-than-expected quarterly financial results. 


European stocks closed lower on Wednesday, reflecting cautious trade in global markets amid nervousness over economic growth and a resurgence in Covid cases. 
The pan-European Stoxx 600 provisionally ended the session down 1%, with autos dropping 2.2% to lead losses as most sectors and major bourses dipped into negative territory. 
In terms of individual share price movement, Siemens Gamesa dropped 8.6% to the bottom of the Stoxx 600 after JPMorgan cut the stock to neutral on expectations that the company’s earnings downgrade will last longer. Parent company Siemens Energy also fell 8.1%.
