Dow and S&P 500 eke out their sixth straight gains as investors await stimulus deal; European stocks close slightly higher but U.S.-China tensions cap gains; BELEX15 flat; Vinci to complete Belgrade airport expansion by end-2022
The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 eked out small gains on Friday, shaking off concerns over rising U.S.-China tensions and ongoing coronavirus stimulus negotiations. The 30-stock Dow closed 46.50 points higher, or 0.2%, at 27,433.48. The S&P 500 ended the session up 0.1% at 3,351.28. Those gains were enough to stretch their winning streaks to six days. The Nasdaq Composite lagged, falling 0.9% to 11,010.98 and snapping a seven-session winning streak. Amazon and Netflix fell 1.8% and 2.8%, respectively. Microsoft dropped 1.8% and Apple slid 2.3%.
The U.S. economy added 1.763 million jobs in July, the Labor Department said Friday. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected a gain of 1.4 million. The U.S. unemployment rate was also better than expected, falling to 10.2%. The jobs reports for June and May were also revised sharply higher.

European stocks closed slightly higher Friday after a stronger-than-expected U.S. federal jobs report and amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing. The pan-European Stoxx 600 closed up by over 0.2% provisionally, with telecoms stocks leading the gains with a 0.9% rise. Basic resources shares were the worst performers, falling 1.4%. German industrial output climbed 8.9% in June, buoyed by a 14.9% rise in exports fueled mostly by China.

BELEX15 was almost with no change, while the most active was Philip Morris, with RSD 1.1m in volume. Energoprojekt announced that it will report 2Q and 6M consolidated figures on Friday, 14th August. France's Vinci Airports plans to complete a 5 billion dinars ($50 million/43 million euro) project for the expansion of Belgrade Nikola Tesla airport by the end of 2022, techincal director Nicholas Brus has said. The expansion project, launched earlier this year, includes an expansion of the Belgrade airport passenger terminal, a new inserted runway and additional taxiways, additional aircraft parking positions, a new de-icing and anti-icing platform, car parking spaces, and new access roads.
